Best Pizza Takeaway Collection Laragh Co. Cavan

Laragh is the kind of place where the parish has three churches and the GAA club is older than most of the houses, and on a Friday night the question of what is for dinner is a matter of local importance.

About ten kilometres east, a dozen minutes on the N3 if the traffic is behaving, which on the N3 it usually is. The collection point is 9B Church Street, Abbeyland — the entrance is round the back of the Black Horse Inn, off the Newcourt Car Park. Look for the Black Horse and come round the back; that is the entire trick. The same run works from Stradone.

What you are actually collecting

The takeaway is not a simplified version of the restaurant menu. It is the same menu, cooked by the same kitchen: sourdough Neapolitan pizzas proved for seventy-two hours and baked in the stone oven for about ninety seconds, dry aged smash burgers made with beef from Herd Butchery in Butlersbridge, wings, loaded fries, and sides that vanish on the way to the car.

Laragh — or Larah, depending on who is writing the sign — is the parish with three churches and a GAA club that has been going since 1973. A parish that size generates a serious takeaway appetite.

Honest notes on the journey home

Our pizza does not travel forever. A base fermented for three days comes out with an open, blistered crust, and that crust starts to soften the moment steam gets trapped in a box. Fifteen minutes in a car and you have a very good pizza rather than the pizza we actually made. Laragh is close enough that this barely matters — collect, drive, eat, in that order, and you get close to what comes out of the oven.

The practical run

Allow 30 minutes from ordering to ready, longer on a Friday or Saturday evening when the oven is working through the room and the collection orders at once. Parking is free for two hours in the Newcourt Car Park during the day and essentially free everywhere in town after five. If you are passing through Stradone on the way, you are already ten minutes from the door. The full takeaway story — including why we do collection rather than delivery — is on our takeaway FAQ page, and the whole menu is on the dine-in menu page.

If you are organising something bigger than a family dinner — a birthday, a group night, a party that needs the run of a restaurant — we do group bookings and private hire too. And if you are staying over, the location page has the full directions and the honest version of the parking situation.

So when the “what are we having” conversation starts in Laragh, you know the answer. Order, drive, collect, eat. The pizza will be worth the trip, and the trip is shorter than you think.
